Youth Ambassadors have harnessed their innovation and creativity to establish a health and wellness courtyard at their school. At this courtyard, students will be able to practice mindfulness, relax, and enjoy art work, with relaxation music playing throughout – a safe space that anyone in the school can access when having difficult or challenging days.
On Saturday, December 1st, 2018 Youth Ambassadors from Northeast High School hosted their first change project at their school. The event, “Miracle on Duvall HWY” focused on bringing their peers and community members together for a day of healthy, physical activities in partnership with the SADD club, girls lacrosse, dance team, while driving their message on prevention to approximately 100 attendees.
The event was filled with fun and engaging activities such as cornhole, Christmas music, indoor volleyball, live dancing, facepainting, food and raffles, arts and crafts projects. Also, resource tables and activities that demonstrate the effects of drugs alcohol.
For two months the students brainstormed ideas for their project, worked on event logistics together, met regularly to delegate roles, and promoted and marketed their event on social media.
Students also worked on video PSA’s on JUULING to share during announcements and with their peers.
